As communicated in the last release on Ammonium Salts Residues (Part V), the MRLs for Benzalkonium Chloride (BAC) and Didecyl Dimethyl Ammonium Chloride (DDAC) for all products are increased from 0.01 mg/kg to 0.1 mg/kg. With regulation (EC) No. 1119/2014, maximum limits for DDAC and BAC in food and feed are defined by an amendment of Annex III of regulation (EC) 397/2005.
The current MRL set in the guidelines of 0.5 mg/kg for food is to be applied for assessment until 11 August 2015 as noted in the statement of the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCoFCAH). The new MRLs are valid for 5 years and will be reassessed until 31 December 2019.
